Diksha Chawla
Diksha did her undergraduate studies from United States and worked there for about 2 years. She is a Computer Engineer who doesn’t like programming! She came back to Delhi a few months back and has been volunteering with Safecity ever since. Coming from a conservative family, the restrictions she grew up with made her question the society she is being brought up in.
A not so perplexed Diksha believes that you can understand you are a human being, this society makes sure you understand that you are a woman and things are different for you. The need to erase that difference brings her to Safecity. There are many organizations working towards women related issues, but Safecity is one of the very few organizations which is working on making the city safer through campaigns and interventions. They are going beyond the problem and to the solutions.
Diksha strongly believes that it is important that this issue is eliminated from its roots, so that every woman can live the life of an equal. Diksha says “we need to make everyone realize that we are the other half of the population and we deserve equal respect and equal rights.” She has started to bring that change with Safecity.
