Calling youth in Mumbai to participate in a social incubator on “Safe Public Spaces”
This is part of the second Urban Thinkers Campus organised by Red Dot Foundation (Safecity) on behalf of the UN Habitat’s World Urban Campaign. It is in partnership with Danish Cultural Institute, Urban Vision, Developmatrix, US Consulate General of Mumbai, ISDI, Tata Capital, Magic Bus and more.
The Youth Design Innovation Challenge is a derivative of the recently concluded Urban Thinkers Campus seeking to involve future leaders of the city – the youth, to play a part in solving gender equality issues due to rapid urbanization.
Themes – Safe Public Spaces
Tracks– Gender, Climate Resilience
Duration – Sept to Dec 2019
Submit your idea by 15th August 2019
Timeline:
7 July- 15 Aug : Submit ideas in any format (word doc, powerpoint, video, drawing) with an explanation of the problem you are trying to solve, the proposed solution and location
16- 20 Aug : 10 best ideas will be selected for mentoring
7 & 8 Sep : 1st experiential session at Magic Bus Learning Centre, Karjat + pairing with Mentors
21/22 Oct: Attend the Urban Thinkers Campus in Mumbai
Oct/ Nov : Mentoring sessions online and in person with expert resources and mentors
29 Nov : Final pitch session at Dosti House, US Consulate General Mumbai
* Team Composition :-
Age group – 17-25 years
Minimum 2 – 3 members
Accompanied by Faculty from College (optional)
Minimum one member must be a non-male
Diversity is of essence and will be given importance
* Criteria for selection of ideas:-
Innovative and hyper-local
Addresses one or more of the themes mentioned
Must have one non-male member on the team
Potential to scale up
* Why you should apply-
8-10 best ideas will be selected by 20 Aug for mentoring by experts & professionals.
All ideas will be published on the World Urban Forum (UN Habitat) website
Cash prizes for the top 3 winners
Experiential sessions by experts on a variety of issues
Opportunity for further mentoring by corporates
All participants get a certificate of participation
