To celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, Safecity and Main Kuch Bhi Kar Sakti Hoon conducted a TweetChat discussing Girl Power, gender roles and inequality. Consequently, the discussion was focused on the contributions of girls to society overall. The chat examined how gaining recognition for contributions can be more difficult for girls. In addition, it also looked at the most common challenges and obstacles faced by girls when they are making these contributions to society as a result of their gender and how we might be able to overcome them, to ensure that they are not demotivated to express themselves or take a stand. With a majority of female participants in the chat, the angst against the restrictions and limitations placed by society and familial institutions was clear. At the same time, each one seemed unfazed and undeterred by these challenges willing to stand in solidarity with others to help girls and women move forward and grow in every sphere of life.
