Against Street Harassment

On Friday, 28th April, Naina Jha @27nainajha conducted a Tweetchat on the importance of knowing the different types of street harassment and not remaining silent about the same.

She began the chat by asking the participants what they thought was street harassment. As they shared their perspectives on it, she went on to ask the participants to enlist the types of harassment they had faced and what was the actual definition of street harassment. Through the chat, many shared stories of harassment that they or people known to them had faced. One major issue that arose through the discussion was the positive portrayal of street harassment in the film industry, especially Bollywood, which promotes stalking, commenting staring etc. Naina ended the chat by talking about bystander intervention and reiterating the importance of reporting and not remaining silent.
