Amana is a second year Political Science student hailing from Kerala with a dream to give it back to the society, even though she is still figuring out how to do it in her own way. One day she wishes to wake up and head to a job where she will be changing and impacting the lives of many.

Emerging Leaders: Amana Parveen

I joined Safecity during February, a time when I was teaching myself how to make the world a better place for women with everything I have to offer. It all felt like very much destined, from the very first day I felt welcomed and appreciated. I always wanted a positive workspace around me, and Safecity made it happen for me. 

Along with my bachelors I’m doing a Diploma in Women Development and Empowerment as I always want to work with inspiring women and empower women. Safecity made sure that I get that space too. The amount of work they do in this area is immense and worthy of appreciation. Every workshop, campaign, tweetchat, and even the posts we put out to the world has great quality to offer. What makes me more proud is that we do it for a social cause to help women and make a change for the gender which have been neglected all these decades. 

I have completed more than two months with Safecity as the Social Media intern and I have taken a lot of learning from it. I was given the opportunity to curate a tweetchat on the topic street harassment, during which I did learn a lot more about the topic but also engaged with a lot of people who have been through such scenarios and have come out strong. They are huge inspiration and sure can impact the world positively.

I am sure I will get to learn more and give it back to the world with Safecity. I write this with utmost enthusiasm that I cannot wait to work more on everything Safecity is taking forward.
