Emerging Leaders: Aniket Pratap Singh
“I, like each one of us, am a normal human being trying to discover the mysteries of human life, trying to figure out the purpose of my life and my existence on earth and I try to explore all the wonders this world has to offer. Following the mainstream I began my journey from Kindergarten to High School and am now pursuing a Bachelors in Technology in Civil Engineering because buildings and skyscrapers that kiss the skies have always fascinated me. In the pursuit to continue my passion and involve myself in activities and opportunities that grab my attention and can use my talent, I started hunting for various internships.
One day while looking for internships on Internshala, I came to know about Safecity. I read about it and something told me that I should grab this opportunity. Hence, without giving it a second thought I applied for the position of a Communications Intern. I got selected after the on-call interview and I began my journey with Safecity.
As I began with my duties and tasks, I began to be more aware of what sexual harassment meant. At the same time, a few of my female friends shared their experience facing sexual harassment in their daily lives and I was shocked. The truth was so much closer than mere numbers on the internet, it was a truth my friends were facing. I told them about the Safecity app. That day I promised myself that I would do something to change the world and its people but to initiate this process I had to start with myself. I had to change myself first only then could I reach out and try to change others.
I began as a Communications Intern in which I handled the social media accounts of the organisation and shared posts of the work we are doing on-ground. It taught me skills of marketing. Now, I am a graphic designing intern at Safecity, in which I make posters for the weekly Tweetchats and for other events like Global Entrepreneurship Summit, Blog Posters on Youth leadership, Policy/Law, UN, Data, Communications/ Social Media, Five Pointers for Success, Know Our Team, National Girl Child day and Emerging Leaders.
As a Graphic Design intern I am enhancing my designing skills by continuously creating posters for our organisation. It is due to Safecity that I have learned how to make good posters and now I make posters for various college fests as well. Special thanks to Renita for continuously supporting and guiding us.
