Emerging Leaders- Himanshi Srivastava
“I am Himanshi Srivastava and I work as a full time Business Analyst for a leading consultancy. In my free time, I like travelling and spending time with my friends and family. I came across Safecity through a friend who was already volunteering with Safecity. I saw it as wonderful opportunity to contribute to society. I mailed them asking if they were looking for volunteers and soon joined Safecity as a Volunteer for Data Analysis. I wanted to contribute to society in any way I could, and Safecity provided a perfect platform to do so.
At Safecity, I’ve created a dashboard which automatically generates insights using the data from the reported incidents thus increasing the efficiency and reducing the time taken in creation of reports. This dashboard is ahred with the police authorities. Insight such as which time of day, month, year is most dangerous, can be obtained with a single click. The dashboard is created using visual basic for applications. In another project, we worked on the incidence data and used text mining to create word cloud and get the frequent terms associated with every category of incidence. Next, I will be using various algorithms like LDA, LSA, Tf-idf to topic model the incidence data. Safecity provides great learning scope, I got to learn new techniques while working on these projects. I learned topic modelling, which is the process of looking into a large collection of documents, identifying clusters of words and grouping them together based on similarity and identifying patterns in the clusters appearing in multitude. Safecity is working toward making the world a safer place, and I am happy that I am also a part of such an organisation
As I worked I got to know more about how Safecity is helping to make the world a better place for women. It provides a platform for women to speak up against any misconduct or harassment. It organizes several campaigns to spread awareness about gender based crimes. I have becomes more aware through the course of my volunteering and will do my bit to make my acquaintances more aware of Safecity and encourage them to raise their voice if they are mistreated.”
