From the Field: Rise Up
At Safecity we are cultivating a culture where no individual is left behind on sensitisation about their own rights, and a big part of which is being aware of gender equality, prevention of sexual harassment, and being armed with the legal arsenal like POSH and POCSO.
Taking up POSCO as a tool for fighting social evils our organisation has tied up with Rise Up for Girls which is concentrating on about twenty schools of Satara in Maharashtra. The aim of the campaign is to strengthen the responses to the act and spread information about child sexual abuse.
Yesterday, ElsaMarie D’Silva our CEO & Founder went for a review visit to Satara and has been delighted to see the progress achieved by our on-ground team.
The day started with our team inviting a local Education Officer who came to attend a morning session and listened to the students who put forward their demands. This was followed up by a workshop with about 150 teachers and training them on their respective responsibilities to appropriately address and prevent incidences of child sexual abuse.
