Reservation for Women: Last Hope for Equality?

On Friday, 11th August 2017, Nikunj Morarka @morarka_nikunj  conducted a tweetchat on whether “Reservation for women was the last hope for Equality”.

The chat sparked off with the fact that women have suffered inequality from the start of the civilisation irrespective of class or caste resulting from a predominantly patriarchal society. Thus rose the question of the need of a constitutional amendment to break the chain of regressive discrimination. Also the fact that the upliftment of women cannot be uniform as the women of the minority have been comparatively more subdued than the rest was highlighted. The chat ended at the call for an alternative to reservations to solve issues of women discrimination.
