Role of Technology in reporting Sexual Violence

On 22nd September, Ushree Roy @Usriroy conducted a tweetchat on the “Role of technology in reporting Sexual violence” considering that Safecity has just launched its mobile app with the same aim for women’s safety and to recognize and report areas of vulnerability.

The discussion sparked off with the technological developments which cater to the needs of women in respect to reporting sexual abuse to which various responses appreciated that technology helps detect locations which made tracking easier and efficient. Whilst discussing the cons of using tech to report violence, issues like unequal distribution of and access to technology which means that all women cannot avail of the facility. The participants further spoke about the the potential roots of how technology can be further evolved to reach everyone uniformly and how the medium of social network gives everyone an equal chance to talk about the injustice they are suffering and also gives an option of privacy to women which acts as a driving force for the majority to come forward and talk.
