Interning at Safecity was something I never thought I would be doing. I have always wanted to be a part of an NGO. It has been my dream to help others, to speak about an issue that demands the world’s attention. But I didn’t know how to voice my opinion. So, when I got a chance to intern with Safecity, I took it.
At first, I was nervous. I had taken the first step towards working for something I believe in- Gender Equality. The problem was I didn’t have any idea about what to do. It was my first ever working experience, so I was fairly nervous. I also had a lot of questions like “Will I be able to manage the responsibilities given to me?”, “Will I be able to handle both my studies and internship at the same time?”, “Will I be good enough?” and many others.
But once I started working, everything fell into place. By interning with Safecity, I did things that I had never done before. I learnt about different NGOs, how they work to address different causes. I learnt about different platforms like WorldPulse, Change. Org and the likes, where you can raise your voice. I learnt how to use various social media platforms. Interning with Safecity has helped me to explore myself. It has taught me teamwork and time management. It has given me a sense of punctuality and responsibility. When I faced hassles or obstacles, my mentors and team leaders helped me. They showed immense faith in me. The opportunity of contributing to Safecity (and society) has turned me a better version of myself. At last, I just want to thank Safecity for having me as an intern. This has been an amazing journey!
