Safecity short-film short-listed for the mBillionth Awards
Over hundreds of people from different fields having a common passion for technology gathered at Eros Hotel , Nehru Place on October 3, 2018 for 9th edition of mBillionth awards South Asia. The event began at 10:00 a.m. with a welcome speech by Mr. Osama Manzar, Founder and Director followed by Mr. Rajat from Facebook.
Later, discussions with various organisations falling under different category having innovative mobile based ideas took place. Red Dot Foundation (Safecity)’s film- Save the Boy Child- Save the Girls #BetaPadhao #BetiBachao on the Safecity mobile app was short-listed for the #mBillionth2018 Awards in Media & Entertainment category. We had a table to present our work and interact with people. During this we had a good response from people and were happy to see that many were passionate about creating safe spaces. Moreover, there were participants who suggested ways to improve our Safecity App. The whole discussion went on for about one and a half hour after which we had a break.
Post the lunch break, a panel discussion started with young minds. Team members of Safecity had a conversation with them and it proved to be a fruitful conversation as they took Safecity along with them to their places. Finally, was the award ceremony. This year, it received a total of 154 nominations across 10 categories out of which 64 were shortlisted for winners and special mentions. The event came to an end with the announcement of the winners. Though we didn’t win the award it was a great opportunity to present our work at such a platform. It was also a great honour being short-listed.”
