Street Harassment

On 19th July Shivani @shivii_26 conducted a Tweetchat on – “Street Harassment”

This is a topic that resonates with all of us, irrespective of age. The chat opened with the question of whether we should confront the situation when someone tries to harass us. It had the participants giving answers ranging from an affirmative to a cautious attitude of assessing the situation. The chat then moved to understand what street harassment means, which had the audience coming up with very clear and concise views. The curator put forward some very valid concerns which received insightful suggestions from the guests on the role of the bystanders and would it be helpful to draw the attention of the bystanders to the incident. Moreover, the attendees explained the main reasons or rather obstacles that hinder the cessation of street harassment. The chat ended by addressing the reasons why cases of street harassment are not reported.

This dialogue was informative and brought forward many relevant sub-topics that are essential to fight street harassment.
