Strengthening International GBV Laws

On Friday 6th October A38 @Athirty8 conducted a tweetchat on ‘Strengthening International GBV Laws’. The chat started off with the agenda of gaps in international GBV laws. The participants actively responded to it by highlighting the major flaws in the international laws, i.e. lack of compliance or will in agencies, discrepancies in statistics etc. Swiftly sailing to a more important question of implementation of these laws was intersectionality, evoking strong reactions of the participants who brought to light factors like lack of domestic enforcement and suggestions like setting international tribunals and promoting education. The tweetchat also discussed themes of international and domestic laws going hand in hand and how the association between them can reduce gender based violence.
