Women, Culture and Economic Development SDG 8
Last week, our curator Kasha Frese @Kasha_Frese, held a TweetChat about SDG 8- Decent Work and Economic Growth from a unique perspective. She spoke about the many ways through which culture and the arts play a huge role in the development of women, not just socially or culturally but more importantly, economically. She highlighted the importance that society, the internet, the different arts like theatre play in providing women and girls opportunities to widen their horizon and push the limits to achieve more. She also elucidated how local politics and culture can encourage women’s economic leadership through increased participation and representation in decision-making. Kasha spoke of the need for society to change their attitudes towards economically independent women along with ways to ensure women’s financial safety along with their economic development
