Women, Health and Education #16Days

On 1st December 2017, Abdul Mufeez Shaheed @abdulmshaheed hosted a tweetchat on the topic ‘Women, Health and Education’ on @pinthecreep.

Important questions were raised, such as how conflict and disaster can disrupt women’s access to education and how men can become champions of the cause of female education. The participants also spoke about the non-traditional education that women in many communities receive and how it impacts their employment prospects. The importance of sex dis-aggregated data in terms of health was also debated. Lastly, the important issue of gender bias in access to health facilities was discussed – how women are sometimes denied access to health facilities in spite of the existence of the institutions.
