Workshop with the students at Dr. BMN College Of Home Science

We began our session with the students by asking them what makes them feel safe and what is their perception of a safe and secure environment for themselves. We, then, went on to speak about gender and sex and what is the difference is between them.

Then, we spoke about how women are portrayed in our society and how we’ve been facing the problem of sexual harassment since a really long time. The students were shown different images on the projector screen and they all spoke about what they thought was wrong in the picture.

After this we spoke about Safecity and our work in trying to counter sexual harassment through various methods. Further, we explained the different types of sexual harassment that most students are unaware of and discussed the laws for taking action against sexual harassment. In the end we spoke about solutions for the issue to make public spaces safer for all, especially women. The girls were extremely interactive with everyone and spoke freely about their doubts and insecurities.
