Safecity Monthly Updates- September 2023

Safecity is committed to creating safer communities for everyone. Our goal is to empower citizens by helping them understand the potential risks they could face in different neighbourhoods. We can do this by sharing our experiences or others anonymously and make these stories available for all. The platform serves law enforcement agencies with information on sexual harassment and other crimes occurring in public and private spaces. The platform’s data helps keep public spaces safe by enabling authorities to keep track of incidents and prevent sexual harassment in the future.

धन्यवाद ,  –  Snehal Pawar,  Savitribai Phule Mahila Mahavidyalaya Satara,  BCA -Ist year student

धन्यवाद , – Mrunali Shinde, Savitribai Phule Mahila Mahavidyalaya Satara, BCA Ist year student

4th Partnership Conference for German and Asian Municipalities

Under the guiding principle “Sustainable? Urban-Rural Relations in the times of Climate Change” a conference was held from September 26th to 28th, 2023, marking the fourth collaboration between German and Asian municipalities. More than 80 attendees from various countries, including Germany, Armenia, India, Indonesia, Mongolia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, came together in response to an invitation from the town partnership between Hildesheim (Germany) and Padang (Indonesia) and the Municipalities in One World service center. The event took place in a municipality located in Lower Saxony, Germany. The conference aimed to promote the international and interdisciplinary exchange of experience and knowledge on the topic of urban-rural relations in times of climate change, as well as to identify further meaningful links for municipal partnerships.

“I would say the motto of this conference is ‘Unity in Diversity’. Even though we come from different countries, contexts and time zones, we still have a common goal. Climate change is an issue where each of us is committed to the well-being of the people in our own community. So we are here with a common vision and for this we use the knowledge and experience from other municipalities and countries. The biggest highlight of the partnership conference for me is the friendship that we have developed despite our cultural differences.” – Ray Morales, Lubang, Philippines

In my opinion, the real value of such events is that you meet like-minded people who have the firm intention of doing something to make this planet sustainable, happy and peaceful. The only problem is that we don’t talk to each other enough and today at the Open Spaces I realized that we don’t ask enough either. We’re too shy. We should all start to really take advantage of the opportunities that such a conference offers.” – Supreet K. Singh, Co-Founder & CEO, Red Dot Foundation, India.
