Teaching Safe and Unsafe Touch to Children at the Sudhar Camp

On December 5, 2019, Safecity conducted a session for children from Anganwadi, Sudhar Camp, Delhi. The session, conducted by our Youth Outreach Officer, Jyoti Goyal, dealt with the topic of Safe and Unsafe Touch.

The session was attended by 13 children belonging to the age group of 2-5 years. With crimes like child sexual abuse becoming rampant in our society, we find it necessary to teach our kids to stay aware.

The kids were taught concepts like safe touch, unsafe touch, safe/unsafe company, etc. The advice given to children included simple steps that can help them in time of distress. They were advised to shout for help whenever they feel unsafe. We encouraged them to share with their parents/siblings/trusted ones, anything and everything that troubles them. Children were advised not to get lured by strangers.

The session ended with us promising the kids that they are not alone and that we are there to help them.
