Women’s safety in public places during festivities
On Friday, 22 Dec 2017, Shubhangani Jain @ShubhanganiJ conducted a tweetchat on Safety of women in public spaces during festivities.
“How safe are we?” “Are we truly ready to celebrate without being groped ?” These are some of the questions that matter every day and were discussed in the tweetchat. While the questions were pointed at the correct issue the answers and the discussion were truly thought-provoking. The comfortable circle, the gender who are affected, safety zone, the strategies currently used and the steps that definitely should be embedded in order to create a society without creeps was discussed. Women do not feel safe in crowded places and festivals. While men are a little on the safer side, women are the frequent sufferers. Many solutions were brought up, which when implemented, could definitely help make the streets safer than before. Claiming spaces and raising voices will definitely help. The complaints and the jurisdiction must be stricter, stronger.
