Know Our Team – The Journey
Vanshika Siya Deswal, an English Honors graduate from Delhi University, has been a part of Safecity family for more than 3 years and leading Delhi’s team of volunteers as Youth Outreach Officer for a year.
It seems like Safecity has been with me through both good and bad moments of adulting. But for a person like me who really believes in fate and coincidences, Safecity happened at a time when I was looking for where my passion lied at or what would I want to do in future. It has shown me so much that I can do to make this world a little better than earlier, made me a smarter and responsible citizen as well as a leader
I remember the naive me that came to college clueless, crying on the first day scared of all the sudden changes in life, trying to get away from parents who always wanted me to do civil services. So I always saw civil services as their dream and not my own but it wasn’t until a month ago that I realised it’s something that even I wish to do. And it’s platforms like Safecity or other Organisations that I’ve worked with made me more focussed, accepting of people around me and me myself.
I don’t know what have I not done here; from doing minor courses on journalism to video editing or creating fun games to do in workshops, trained people of my age about gender sensitization attended so many amazing events and forums. I have always considered it a privilege to be a part of this family, to be able to interact with my very inspiring colleagues and Elsa and Supreet who keep learning and trying new things and don’t limit themselves to work norms.
