Making Schools Safer for Children
On Friday, 2nd May, Nipa Bhansali @nipabhansali from Leher @leherindia conducted a Tweetchat on the importance of creating safer schools for children.
The chat began by asking the audience all the current issues of safety that children in schools face and what needs to be done to keep them safe in school. This question sought an answer about safety in a wider aspect be it, safety in conflict, free from discrimination/abuse, safe commutes to and back from school etc. Sensitisation of staff, teachers and parents was one of the main solutions offered. The chat also asked the audience for suggestions about child protections policies that could be undertaken by schools to ensure the safety of their children. To bring the chat to a close, everyone pitched in ideas on how they as a society, as parents and communities, can get involved in ensuring the safety of their children in school.
